Since its establishment in 1974 by Prof Stanley Nisbet and colleagues, the Scottish Educational Research Association (SERA) has been at the forefront of driving educational research, practice, and policy in Scotland. With a steadfast commitment to excellence and collaboration, SERA has played a pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape and fostering positive change throughout the nation.
SERA’s mission is to support and advance high-quality educational research, supporting evidence-based practice, and influencing educational policy decisions. The association achieves these goals through various means, including our annual conference, our network activities, and two special editions of Researching Education Bulletin.
Celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2024 signifies a remarkable journey of dedication and impact in the field of education. The anniversary celebrations are set to honour SERA’s legacy while looking ahead to future opportunities and challenges in the realm of educational research and practice.
Throughout the year-long celebrations, SERA will organise a series of events, highlighting the achievements, milestones, and contributions of the association over the past five decades. These events will provide opportunities for members and stakeholders to reflect on SERA’s journey, exchange ideas, and chart the course for the future of educational research and practice in Scotland.
For more information about SERA’s 50th-anniversary celebrations and events scheduled throughout 2024, interested parties are encouraged to visit SERA’s official website and our social media channels for updates and details on how to participate.
